The Cirkut Panoramic Outfit is in itself a most complete affair, being made up of a camera which can be used in the ordinary manner for plates, if desired, and a Panoramic Attachment which is easily and quickly attached to the camera, thus converting it into a Panoramic Outfit.

Negatives up to 8’ may be made with the No 8. A complete circle of 360 degrees may thus be photographed, if desired.

The Century Camera, Model 46, when used as a plate camera, has a revolving back which enables the photographer to decide instantly, just how he wishes to make the picture.

The camera has a double sliding front which includes a small knob on the top of the left standard which raises and lowers the lens and then secures the lens in any desired position.  The camera has a double-section brass-bound telescopic bed, swing bed, rack and pinion movements.

The Century patented Front Automatic clamp automatically clamps and securely holds at any point on the bed the front lens and shutter. There is absolutely no chance of the front slipping after once adjusting the focus as the “shoe” grips the brass bed plate its entire length. 

The camera has a Bausch & Lomb Centar Series II lens.

A Folmer Graflex Corp Crown Tripod No. 4 is included to complete the outfit.  There are six gears and a wind-up key in the original box.

This Century Cirkut No. 8 Panoramic Camera Outfit is in very good condition, seeing it is over 100 years old.  It appears to have seen little use.  The leather covering is very nice and the leather handles are intact and usable.  The outfit appears to be complete as originally sold and includes the Century Model 46, 6 1/2 x 8 1/2 camera with rotating back (no film holders).  There is also the Cirkut 8” pano back, tripod with geared head and six gear set with key.  The case has seen a lot of wear and is in the worst shape, but the camera equipment inside has been well protected. The leather bellows is soft and supple but has not been tested for light leaks.   The lens is in very good condition and the shutter functions but is in need of a CLA.  The Cirkut back drive mechanism runs but is also in need of a CLA.

This is a very nice example of the Century Cirkut No. 8 Panoramic Camera Outfit.  With a little cleaning and adjusting it should make a good pano camera to use.  For more information, refer to the pages from the 1907 Century Camera catalog in the photos above.

Don’t know much about this lens, since the only markings are ‘Darlot Paris’ and ‘Made in France.’  The back focus distance measures 8.5 inches. We were told this is probably an 1870-90 Darlot ‘Petzval’ portrait lens. The lens barrel is 2 inches in diameter and the length, minus the front shade is 3.5 inches. The barrel is in nice shape, possibly refinished. The glass is good considering its age, with some marks, no major chips or blemishes, probably plenty usable. The lens is thread-mounted directly into a 110x110mm Canham metal lens board (no flange). There are no lens caps. The Canham lens board is included.

A little more information: This is a projection lens.  Has no f Stops or Waterhouse Stops.

We mounted the lens on a 5×7 camera. Here is what we found;

Focal Length @ infinity (lens center to GG) = 6”
Glass Diameter = 1.58”
Apparent f = 3.79 I would call it an f4.0
Measured Image Circle = 5”
(The full diagonal of 4×5 would require 6.4”)
This lens would not cover 4×5 at infinity.

The focus mount diameter is 2.18”
Would say the thread mount is about 55mm
The barrel of the lens is, w/o mount 2.07”
Front to rear glass to glass, about 3.02”
Barrel, front to back, w/o hood 3.51”
Total front to back w/hood 4.40”

Over the years we have accumulated several K.B. Canham 110 x 110 mm lens boards drilled in several sizes. These lens boards fit the Canham 4×5, 4×10 and 5×7 cameras. All boards are genuine Canham, bearing the company logo in the lower right corner and stamped on the reverse KBC.

These are solid aluminum boards with rounded corners. They have been used and show some wear and scratches, but all are in excellent, usable condition. Most are drilled 41.6mm for Copal #1 shutter. We do have some boards drilled 34.6mm for Copal #0 and one 65mm for Copal #3.

We have for sale one of the best Wisner cameras made, the 8×10 Expedition.   Quoting from the original catalog listing: “This series is for the photographer who wants the full features of the Technical Field Cameras, including the patented Wisner geared axis tilt and rear rise, but who wants a light weight camera for backpacking or other location work.  These cameras are made of American black cherry and high strength aircraft aluminum which has been brass anodized.”  You will find the original Wisner catalog HERE with more information and specifications.

This was Susan’s main camera up to about ten years ago when she moved to the pano format exclusively.  There are some modifications including, foldaway closure latches and a lay flat leather hand strap.  The camera has been in storage, is complete, fully functional and in excellent condition.  It comes with the original maroon leather bellows, a black fabric bellows, a plain ground glass and original matching cherry wood ground glass protector.  Sorry, we do not have any lens boards for this camera.

Up for sale is a nice Zone VI American Black Walnut 4×5 Field Camera with Fujinon W 210mm f5.6 lens in Copal #1 shutter.  This camera was purchased used some years back as a backup and has never been used by us.   It was cleaned, lubed, waxed and put into storage, never being put into service.  Here is the original Zone VI catalog listing for this camera;

“The Zone VI 4×5 Camera has many unique features: Its 18-inch extension and 22-inch bellows can handle, with full movements, lenses to 355mm.  It allows greater than1:1 ratio with a 210mm lens for extreme close-ups. With the 120mm lens, you can get more than a 2:1 ratio. The bellows is removable.  When the optional bag bellows is substituted, unlimited movements with lenses from 47mm to 165mm are available.  There is a front shift movement – rare on field cameras – which is convenient for precise lateral framing. There are tilts from the base as well as through the lens axis; another unusual feature.”
 
“As versatile in the studio as it is in the field, its range of movements exceeds the covering power of lenses designed for an 8×10! Front rise and fall, 3” travel. Front base tilt, 45° forward, 45° back. Front axis tilt, unlimited. Front swing, 17°.  Note: a front drop (we have a 1 ½” drop) achieves the same result as a rear rise. The front shift achieves the same result as a back shift to the opposite side. The camera folded, measures 3 ¼’ by 7 ¾” by 9 ½”. It weighs six pounds. The 545 and 550 Polaroid backs, the Calumet and Sinar roll film backs, and the Kodak Readyload backs are accommodated.”

The camera is in excellent condition, showing little signs of use.  The gold plated hardware shows some normal wear, but all in all is in very good condition.  All movements are tight and function smoothly.  The only noticeable finish flaws are some marking on the bottom of the camera next to the tripod socket (see photos).

The camera is fitted with an original Zone VI Fresnel which has a few very light scratches.  Also included is an additional black walnut lens board, drilled for a #0 Copal shutter.

Spring cleaning time again. . . we are cleaning out the closet and found a few more odds-n-ends.  This is a Wollensak Rapax shutter from our collection of stuff.  Not sure of the exact size, but do know that it originally came with a 6 1/2 inch WA Dagor that we had remounted.

The shutter runs well, but hesitates, thus it does need a CLA.  Otherwise it appears to be in good working order.  Shutter and aperture blades are clean and work freely.  Lens comes with its retaining ring.
