BODIE 1998-2007
BODIE STATE HISTORIC PARK
Let me begin by quoting the bodie.com web site; BODIE, CALIFORNIA. . . A TOWN FROZEN IN TIME IN A “STATE OF ARRESTED DECAY.” Bodie is an original mining town from the late 1800’s. What’s left today stands in a state of “arrested decay” and is maintained by the California State Parks System, who took over the town in 1962 to make it a State Historic Park.
Between the years 1998 to 2007 we made numerous trips to this California ghost town. At one time a local photographer friend called me the honorary mayor of Bodie. We visited to make photographs. Why else? I have well over 100 large format negatives from Bodie and my catalog shows I have printed 56. In this gallery I have selected 36 images that represent my time in this unique place.
